Changing Your Gmail Password

Step 1: Sign In to Your Google Account

  1. Open a web browser and go to the Google Account sign-in page.
  2. Enter your Gmail email address and click "Next".
  3. Enter your current password and click "Next" to sign in.

Step 2: Access Security Settings

  1. Once signed in, you will be taken to your Google Account page.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click on "Security".

Step 3: Change Password

  1. In the Security section, scroll down to the "Signing in to Google" section.
  2. Click on "Password".

Step 4: Verify Identity

  1. You will be prompted to enter your current password again for security purposes. Enter your current password and click "Next".

Step 5: Enter New Password

  1. Enter your new password in the "New password" field. Make sure it is at least 8 characters long and use a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols.
  2. Re-enter your new password in the "Confirm new password" field.
  3. Click "Change Password".

Step 6: Confirmation

  1. You will see a confirmation message that your password has been changed.

Optional: Update Password on Your Devices

  1. Sign out and sign back in on all devices where you use your Gmail account to ensure they are updated with your new password.
  2. If you use Gmail on apps or devices that do not prompt for the new password automatically, manually update the password in the account settings of those apps or devices.
